Does Hut Catch book the hut for me?
No. We tell you a spot has opened and link you to the DOC booking page. You book and pay DOC directly, exactly as you normally would.
Is a spot guaranteed?
No. Alerts depend on other hikers cancelling, so we can't promise a spot will open up on your dates, or that it will still be free when you try to book. Hut Catch doesn't book for you; we only let you know when DOC shows a spot.
How quickly will I hear about a cancellation?
We check every few minutes, 24/7, so most alerts reach your inbox within minutes of a spot opening up.
Which walks can I watch?
All the Great Walks that are booked through DOC, including their huts and campsites. You can watch as many huts on one walk as you like in a single alert.
What happens to my alert after my dates pass?
It ends on its own. Until then, you can change its dates and huts or stop it at any time from Your alerts, next to your email at the top of the page.
How much does it cost?
Starting as low as US$6.60 per alert. One-off, no subscription. Each alert covers every hut you pick on that walk and runs 24/7 until your dates have passed.
